Lady Date: Lunch & Thrifting

Leah and I went on a lady date a couple of weekends ago. We went out to lunch at The Dhaba in Tempe and then thrifting. We had a blast, like usual :)

We ordered the sampler veggie platter as our appetizer:

Leah ordered a wrap with french fries and  I ordered potatoes and cauliflower. We also shared a spinach & garbanzo bean dish and rice with veggies. The food was delicious, as it always is! The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about which items on their menu were vegan (which was quite a few)!

After our lunch, we stopped by Starbucks to get a couple of coffees:

We found a ton of things to try on:These did not make the cut:For a little while, our thrift finds all had the same color scheme:

Leah and I purchased a bunch unique things. Like that owl napkin holder (above). We’ll be sharing our thrift finds post soon! Happy thrifting!

Thrift Finds

Greetings Earthlings!

Guess what I’ve been up to!…You got it right: thrifting to my heart’s content! Let’s take a looksy, shall we??…

I’ve been looking for a nice denim shirt for quite some time now and I really like this one that I found at Goodwill.  I’m still on the look out for a lighter weight chambray in a bit of a darker color but I also like the color and weight of this denim top and can’t wait to wear it…

I was thrilled when I found this tan and white polka dot blouse at Goodwill because, not only is it adorable alone but it is also perfect for layering under sweaters this time of year…

I popped this bad boy underneath a green thrifted sweater just this weekend and I got quite a few compliments!

This red Liz Claiborne purse was a steal and will be going in the shop very soon…

I got this little artificial plant at Goodwill this week.  I seriously couldn’t keep a plant alive if my life depended on it so this will just have to do.  It does spruce up my bedroom though, I must admit….

I layered my vintage tan and white polka dot sweater over a black dress and loved how the peter pan collar popped…

I scored these Minnetonka moccasins at Saver’s for $5 and they fit! Find of the week if you ask me….

I was hoping I could purchase this dark green guy as a suitable replacement for….

THIS guy, but decided to continue the search.  I adored my speckled frog and he will be missed! The perpetrator is still on the loose, BTW, and I think I might have an idea of who it was….

Stella Bean

But how can I stay mad at a face like that, huh? Oh well, just another reason to get back out there and find more treasures!

We are updating the shop daily so take a gander if you like!

Your Grandmother’s Couch

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday!

Allow me introduce you all to one of my favorite vintage dresses…

I thrifted this dress at Goodwill and, even though I love everything about it, it took me weeks to actually wear it.  Does that ever happen to you? As if you’re trying to save a particular outfit for a special occasion and then you realize that special occasions don’t really come around all that often?I love the kitschy floral pattern and the colors of this dress are my favorite of anything I own.  The scalloped neckline and the great length are just a couple of bright red cherries on top.  I went with black heels and tights since it is January but I think this dress will be really versatile and good for all seasons…Dress – thrifted at Goodwill

Cardigan – thrifted at Salvation Army

Belt – thrifted at Goodwill

Black tights – Target

Black platform heels – Payless Shoe Source

Now that I think of it, I have quite a few dresses that I never wear….maybe 2012 will be the year I *FINALLY* start dressing like a lady…

Naaahhhh :)

Rust and Plaid

Hi friends!

I already showed you guys this rust colored sweater in a thrift finds post but I wanted to show you my entire outfit.  I work in an office but I am often able to wear jeans to work so this was one of those days.  I think the rust and blue look good together…

I thrifted the plaid shirt (that I wore underneath) separately from the sweater but, paired with some jeans and some oxfords, I felt really comfy without getting in trouble for being too casual in the office…

Rust Sweater – thrifted @ Salvation Army

Plaid button up – thrifted @ Goodwill

Jeans – Mossimo (Target)

Shoes – Steve Madden (via Ross)

I decided  to try a “jumping shot” like some of my favorite bloggers (see the lovely Erin from the Calivintage blog).  After seeing the pictures, I’ve decided that I will be keeping my feet planted firmly on the ground for now! : /

We’re adding new items to the shop every day ((we are listing machines!!)) so be sure to check back for updates!

Thrift Finds

Hey ya’ll!

Happy 2012 to ya! I spent New Year’s Eve with a small group of friends, laughing, drinking, singing and dancing in the safety of my own living room.  It was probably the best NYE that I can remember in a long time.  I feel like some holidays get hyped up so much that, in the end, they always end up kind of disappointing. That’s how NYE usually is for me but this year was fun and, hopefully, a good indication of what this year has in store for me!

That being said, 2012 has been a great year for thrifting so far and I’ve come home with way more goodies than my closet knows what to do with:

I thrifted this Rust colored sweater while I was in Nebraska and I recently got this plaid button up shirt at Goodwill.  Fate worked out in my favor as they were, obviously, meant to be together…

I discovered this pretty yellow sweater the other day at Goodwill.  The scalloping (is that a word??) at the neck and the cutout details are my favorite part…

Adrian and I went to Deseret Industries (commonly referred to as the D.I.) yesterday where I bought this cream cable knit sweater.  I’m contemplating putting it in the shop since sweater weather lasts for approximately 45 minutes in Arizona…

Tan & White Polka Dot Sweater – thrifted at the D.I.

Camel Ralph Lauren Corduroy Trousers – thrifted at the D.I.

Vintage Mustard Purse – thrifted at the D.I.

My birthday is coming up soon and I have been debating purchasing a “new” fancy dress for the occasion.  Not surprisingly, I was having a hard time coming to terms with spending more than $8 for an article of clothing.  The thrift gods answered my prayers and showered me with two beautiful dresses to choose from…

This dress is originally from French Connection but I thrifted it from the D.I. as well. You can’t see very well in the photo but the dress has a unique, geometric cut out in the bust area.  I love how it sort of has a tiki feeling to it!

I originally picked this dress out for Adrian thinking it would fit her better than me but it turns out it fits me like a glove! When worn, the skirt flares out and the back has multiple criss-crossed straps.  Oh and the best part is that the brand name is called “Spoiled Girls”. PAH!… I love it but I can’t decide which one I like best out of the two.  Any opinions would be appreciated!

Now, I will leave you with this creepy-as-hell picture of my friend Tia’s cat sitting on my (vintage! thrifted!) chair:

Gimme your sub!

Don’t forget Veronika is offering 20% off at Superstition Vintage to all of her readers!  We both love her blog and when we found out that she uses the sponsorship money from Tick Tock Vintage to pay for school supplies for her third grade classroom, we knew we wanted to be involved.  Be sure to go and check her out!

Thrift Finds

Hi guys!

I hope you are all having a great holiday season and are happily awaiting the new year! I’ve decided that one of my new year’s resolutions for 2012 is to STOP buying shoes that don’t fit me…apparently I have a problem with that.  Anyway, I’ve made a few thrifting trips in the last couple of weeks so I wanted to share some of my finds!  Before I left for Nebraska I picked up these sweet vintage riding boots (don’t worry, they fit me perfectly)…

Naturally, Anna and I made it a point to hit up some thrift stores during my visit back home…

Don’t you love Anna’s oversized sweater?  She is a sweater thrifting machine, I tell ya!  This rust colored blazer was my favorite find of the day.  In fact, I’m wearing it as I type…

I also thrifted this smart plaid blazer:Vintage plaid wool blazer-thrifted at Goodwill

and I love the cut outs and the ruffled neck of this cute vintage sweater…

I was on the hunt for a bed frame so I went to Goodwill yesterday and, while I did find a frame, I also found a couple fun items for my room!  This cute pair of silhouettes was less than $4.  Beneath the faces it says “Bramble 1960″.  I remember my brother and I having our silhouettes done at Disney World when we were little…wonder where those ended up??? Anyway, those silhouettes remind of me of these ones and I adore them…

I also found this AMAZING vintage American Tourister train case for only $5! It has the original tray and even an original zippered pouch.  To top it off, the mustard color matches my American Tourister carry on bag exactly!

Is everyone excited for the weekend?  I’m super excited!  Tonight, Leah & I have a kickball game…actually, it’s a tournament so we’ll have to win in order to advance. We’ve had a pretty rough season.  And by rough, I mean that I’m in pretty rough shape!  Seriously though, the day following each game, it feels like I got hit by a bus!  I thought that the pain would end or that I would get used to it….NOPE!  It’s so sad!! :(  I have to remind myself that I graduated from High School about 10 years ago and I’m just not in the shape that I used to be! Anyway, tomorrow, Leah & I are going to a Halloween party at JD’s (our friend and fellow Killer Bees teammate).  Wanna know what I’m going to be for Halloween??  Check back tomorrow to see an outfit post on my Vintage Halloween Costume!

Here’s Leah and I at our last game:

Gooooooo Killer Bees!

And me and my hubby:

Do you have a busy weekend planned? Are you going to any halloween parties? Or hosting one? I can’t wait to see everyone’s Halloween pictures!
